Working Groups

Two Working Groups (WG) have been established to support the work being carried out the RISEPTIS advisory board.

The goal of the WGs is to contribute, among others, to the preparation of the high-level report described below that is the ultimate objective of the Project and the RISEPTIS AB. Furthermore, these WGs will be serving as the main vehicles for further discussing the common cross-issues that were identified at the Bled Conference with other research communities working in the field of the Future Internet.

For information about the Working Groups' place in the Think-Trust project, please see our:

FAQ section

Working Group workshops are detailed in our:

Events section

WG1. Security and Dependability in the Future Internet
WG1 will discuss conceptual and implementation aspects across the spectrum of multi-layered network and services infrastructures including technological evolution and scalability and layering required for polymorphic networks, physical, virtual, service, and others. Other perspectives that plan to be investigated in WG1 include:

» Computing & communication paradigms (incl. protocols/middleware - functionality and monitoring)
» Emerging Threats
» Virtualization concepts
» Existence of real infrastructures and user-centric testbeds

This will be explored across enabling technologies, core infrastructures and end users/devices.

The prime focus of WG1 is technological, but there is also need to take properly into consideration the underlying societal, legal, and economic issues and needs. There is an important overlap with WG2 in these concerns.

Within WG1, the Internet is to be understood in its broad vernacular interpretation, and to take into account all forms of electronic or optical communication and all aspects of information technology, applications and services, including its socio-economic perspectives.

WG2. Privacy and Trust in the Information Society
WG2 will mainly discuss issues that are relating to the so-called user-centricity paradigm, where the users are given adequate tools to safeguard their privacy and protect their personal data and assets. This comprises: conceptual, implementation and tradeoffs within Human/machine/device ID (+ multiple personas) management; Data collection, data storage, data access and data protection rights for businesses and consumers; Usage facets: authentication, privacy, confidentiality; Personal privacy versus societal and national needs; and underlying standards and regulatory issues.

WG2 will equally focus on non-technical needs and concerns, from social and economic viewpoints (costs vs. benefits quantification), from the human and personal to the organisational and legal/governmental across varied application domains and enabling technologies. For example, biometrics, crypto, Data/Identity Rights Management, Trusted Computing and Communication and may consider deployment case studies.
