Think-Trust has now completed its final research Recommendations Report. D3.1C is complementary to the RISEPTIS Report. RISEPTIS makes six recommendations for action, covering both technical and supportive regulatory measures. The first recommendation is that the European Union should stimulate interdisciplinary research, technology development and deployment to address the trust and security needs of the Information Society. In the context of this recommendation and taking account of the discussions of the Working Groups, D3.1c identifies ten research challenge areas (and related research topics) that should be prioritised in future EU research programmes, in order to provide trustworthy hardware and software for the Information Society. The process of identifying the research challenges in this report has been informed by: *The RISEPTIS report, which outlines the overall policy framework and provides a context for the identification of the research challenges * The conclusions of the Think-Trust Working Groups which met twice in plenary session during the project * The wider Consultation process, which presented the interim research challenges (detailed in Deliverables D3.1a and D3.1b) to a wider ICT security community – the results of which are summarised in Deliverable D3.3. This Consultation elicited the opinions of a wide range of organisations, institutions and individuals
* The discussions at the Future Internet Assembly (FIA) events since the Bled Declaration, 2008 – these discussions in which Think-Trust actively participated and in particular, the breakout sessions and discussions on trust, identity and privacy from each FIA meeting have also informed the development of this report
D3.1c will be distributed widely and will also be available on the project website, under the Think-Trust documents banner. |
