The Future of the Internet Conference aims to review the strategic orientations and trends governing the future societal and economic developments of on-line Internet and Mobile societies and to present interesting ideas and projects in this area.

Think-Trust partners organised a session on "Trust and Identity" at this event.

Fair for Trustworthy ICT Research

This event aims at bringing together people interested in ICT Trust and Security Research to discuss research issues, meet prospective partners and develop ideas for possible project proposals in view of the upcoming call for proposals. The European Commission will be present to give the necessary support and explanation to prospective proposers. Please find attached a leaflet about the event. Please note that the event takes place immediately after the FIA event in Prague and there is a convenient high-speed train connection from Prague to Olomouc.

Third RISEPTIS plenary meeting (requires user log-in)

At this third plenary meeting of RISEPTIS members, a number of matters were discussed, which saw significant progress towards the completion of the draft RISEPTIS Report being made. In order to frame and give some context for the discussions on Recommendations that are already provisionally included in the Report, presentations on the ‘Trust in Digital Life' Public-Private Partnership and ‘Strategic issues for Data Protection in Europe' were made to the meeting. Dissemination activities for promoting the Report were also examined, with a number of strong suggestions coming from RISEPTIS members.

Joint Think-Trust / Amber workshop on "Measurability of trustworthiness of complex ICT systems and services"

Trust metrics are in relatively short supply when it comes to the Future Internet and its inherent evolving and interacting ICT systems and services. There exists the strong need to develop methodologies which will allow trust to be perceived, established and ultimately measured.

This workshop organised and hosted jointly by Think-Trust and Amber (a fellow FP7 Coordination Action project) sought to discuss and identify key advances and future research challenges to be addressed in terms of trustworthiness related metrics, methods and tools. Second Working Group plenary workshop

When: 24 - 25 February, 2009

After a successful first plenary workshop in Paris in September, 2008, the Think-Trust Working Groups (WGs) came together for their second such meeting in Brussels on February 24th and 25th last. This second workshop had the ambitious goal of building on the outputs from the Paris event and merging the resultant findings from each WG then with the four use cases now presented to attendees in Brussels.

Second FIA event

When: 9 - 10 December, 2008

Where: Madrid, Spain

The Future Internet Assembly (FIA), held in Madrid brought together around 300 people to discuss Europe's efforts towards a future networked society. Participants included representatives from academia, industry (including SMEs) and other interested organisations, many of them involved in current EU research projects in this area. Invited speakers from the United States and elsewhere also attended.

Think-Trust organised and chaired a two-part session ("Trust" and "Privacy/Identity") in Madrid.

ICT 2008

When: 25 - 27 November, 2008

Where: Lyon, France

Event type: Think-Trust related

The networking session entitled: 'Societal and ICT perspectives: the impact of Trust, Security, Dependability, Privacy and Identity', organised by the Think-Trust project, which was held at ICT Lyon on November 25-27, received much praise for it's management and productiveness. The networking session has opened discussion across a multi-disciplinary environment integrating socio-economic and technology perspectives. It also raised awareness to ongoing research in this area.

Second RISEPTIS plenary meeting (requires user log-in)

There were a number of topics on the agenda when this second meeting of the RISEPTIS was convened. (1) Members were updated as to the latest activities within the Advisory Board. (2) The report produced after the Think-Trust Working Groups workshop in Paris the previous month was presented by WG leaders. (3) The RISEPTIS skeleton report was discussed, including a presentation from its rapporteur. (4) A number of invited speakers made presentations which facilitated further discussion. (5) Next steps and further activities for members were relayed to members.

ICT Security for Government and Public Services' Workshop on "Identity Management in the Future Digital Society"

The aim of this workshop was to bring together major European initiatives in the domain of identity management in the future digital society, specifically the STORK project, which aims at cross-border recognition of national electronic identities, and several activities of the IST/ICT Research Programs focusing on identity (FIDIS, PRIME, PRIMELIFE, PICOS, SWIFT, SWEB). The rationale for this workshop was that the FP6 IST and FP7 ICT program provide substantial support for activities in the domain of user-centric identity for life in the digital age as well as in the field of security and trust in ID cards and tokens.

Think-Trust partner WIT (Jim Clarke) acted as rapporteur at this event.

First Working Group plenary workshop

When: 9 - 10 September, 2008

Where: Paris, France

The inaugural workshop of the Think-Trust WGs took place in Paris on September 9th and 10th and was attended by over 30 participants (including WG members, the Think-Trust project partners and the Commission). The main objectives of the workshop were to bring together representatives of the research community of security, dependability, trust, privacy and IDM (invited Working Group members) to identify and scope their future activities and discuss technology solutions in the path toward "Trustworthy ICT".

This was the initial meeting of RISEPTIS members, observers and ex-officio members; an overview presentation of Think-Trust was given to the attendees in addition to the context of the project being set by Head of Unit, Jacques Bus. The objectives for the Advisory Board were laid out and the scope of the project's two Working Group was also discussed. Suggestions for WG membership were also heard and examined.
